Position: Project Coordinator
General Description: Save the Dunes Conservation Fund, Inc. is a non-profit conservation organization located in Michigan City, Indiana. The organization is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator who will oversee various conservation and advocacy projects benefiting the Indiana dunes. Save the Dunes provides a vibrant environment for continuous learning in a challenging and rewarding atmosphere in which both personal and organizational successes are valued and celebrated.
Primary Duties
- Will be responsible for leading and tracking a variety of dune-related projects that include restoration, stewardship, advocacy, policy, and other
- Seek and write grants as well as manage and submit required reports (monthly/quarterly/annual or as needed) that documents use of funds
- Consistently maintain status reports on each project to ensure progression of schedule within budget and defined quality standards
- Facilitate meetings with partners
- Provide clear, persuasive and informed responses to project inquiries or challenges
- Write and develop outreach and promotional materials for social media, website, and press
- Assist with fundraising efforts including planning events and building donor relationships
- Coordinate meetings, field days, workshops, and other events
- Maintain precise records of activities, time, expenses, receipts, and invoices by project
- Assist with other projects as assigned by the Executive Director and Project Manager
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in biology, chemistry, environmental science, hydrology, natural resource management, environmental policy, or related field
- Two years of project coordination experience
- Regional knowledge of the flora and fauna of Northwest Indiana and the Chicago Region
- Ability to interpret and explain scientific articles, permits and public notices
- Ability to design professional documents and spreadsheets while demonstrating great attention to detail
- Ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner while responding promptly to organizational needs
- Effective time management skills with an ability to balance team and individual responsibilities while demonstrating a commitment to organization’s success
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Basic math and accounting skills
- Ability to map and analyze spatial data using GIS (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; must have the confidence to facilitate large meetings and work professionally with a diverse array of partners
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- May walk long distances or stand for sustained periods of time
- Ascends and descends stairs daily
- Some work may involve exposure to outdoor elements, carrying heavy equipment, and moving in varied outdoor terrain
Compensation
- Salary $40,000 – $50,000 DOE
- Health benefits not provided; retirement benefits available after one year of employment
