Nature Lovers’ Richmond Area Property for Sale
An interesting ~70-acre property in the Richmond IN area has come up for sale, and Mike Hoff of Whitewater Valley Land Trust thought it might interest some INPAWS members as a weekend hide-away or potential retirement home.
Here’s what we know:
=Located in a secluded natural area butting up to Duning Woods Nature Preserve, which INPAWS helped the Trust purchase some years back.
=It was the residence of Landrum Bolling, former Earlham President (1958 to 1973), former president of Lilly Endowment, and active until age 104 with global peace and justice issues, especially in the Middle East. His son Dan Bolling is handling the sale.
=Two structures sit on the land: a split-level ranch style home in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright with basement apartment, and an 1840 brick federal style home; both accessed via a half-mile gravel driveway.
=Includes a 5-6 acre lake, and a smaller second lake.
=Features ravine forests, with changes in elevation of about 250 feet; also farm fields abandoned in the 1950s.
=Purchaser need not buy all 70 acres, but at least 10. The Trust will likely purchase any acreage not part of the sale.
=Price has not been set but is estimated at $250-$450K. The property is being appraised this week.
=Located off Mattie Harris Road in Centerville IN. Google Earth link: https://earth.app.goo.gl/tCdx7
