The State of Indiana Botany in 2023
Scott Namestnik’s engaging presentation recounts the quest to document the Indiana flora, from Charles Deem through today’s intrepid researchers, asking how we light “the spark” that will ensure we can pass the torch to a next generation of botanists. You will be amazed at the breadth of the research underway, but astounded that no Indiana university offers a degree in Botany.
Scott is with the Indiana Natural Heritage Data Center, Division of Nature Preserves. He gave this talk in conjunction with an open house at the remodeled Friesner Herbarium at Butler University.
