“Wake Up, Woods” Walks at Newfields, April 19

As part of their Earth Day celebration, Newfields is offering two guided walks through spring ephemerals on their campus, led by ecologist/author Mike Homoya of the Indiana Native Plant Society. The walks will focus on identifying and enjoying the spring blooms featured in INPS’s award-winning children’s book, Wake Up, Woods. Participants will need to sign up for the hour-long walks, which will take place at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Mr. Homoya will be available to sign copies of Wake Up, Woods from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ruth Lilly Visitor Pavilion.

Newfields’ Culinary Arts department will have a food trailer in the area to sell coffee and a dish featuring invasive garlic mustard removed from the woods. All Earth Day activities will be free to the public.
