Come enjoy the botanical richness and beauty of Ouabache (Wabash) Trails Park in Knox County, near Vincennes, Indiana. Experience native plants and wildflowers in a variety of habitats preserved in this 254-acre park. See native plants of woodland and wetland, along streams, and near the Wabash River floodplain.
The event will be presented by Michael Broz, Terri Talarek King, Linda Wilcox, Linda Sutterer, Will Drews, and Denise Egel of INPAWS’ Southwest Chapter. Park brochures/maps and Ouabache Trails plant lists will be available at the walks.
All times listed are in Eastern Daylight.
11:00 a.m. – Morning Woodland Walk with Michael Broz – Upper trails
Meet at Hedstrom Shelterhouse near the park office to explore primarily woodland wildflowers.
12:30 p.m. – Lunch at the Hedstrom Shelterhouse (bring own food and drinks)
1:30 p.m. – Afternoon Wetland Walk with Terri Talarek King – Trail 7
Meet at Sacajawea Shelterhouse in lower park area to explore plants of wetland and creek areas. Waterproof shoes or boots are recommended.

Directions to Ouabache/Wabash Trails Park
Vincennes, Indiana
From US-41 or US-50, take the Vincennes 6th St exit (third exit north of the Hart St. exit.) It is about 2-1/2 miles to the park from the 6th St. exit and there is signage to lead you there, or you can follow the directions below:
Continue on 6th St. to the first stop light.
Turn RIGHT onto Old Wheatland Rd./Executive Blvd. (FastBreak Marathon Truck Stop on corner.)
Take Old Wheatland Rd/Executive Blvd. to N. 2nd St.
Turn RIGHT at the stop sign onto N. 2nd St., then take an immediate LEFT onto old SR 67.
Continue on old SR 67 to the next left (approximately ¼ mile.)
Turn LEFT onto Old Terre Haute Road. Continue to Lower Fort Knox Road (just before the RR tracks.)
Turn RIGHT onto Lower Fort Knox Rd.
Continue on Lower Fort Knox Rd., which leads straight to the park entrance.
