Midwest Herbaria Plant Lists

Interested in matching your landscaping plants to the local flora? IU’s Deam Herbarium, through the Consortium of Midwest Herbaria, has compiled plant lists for Indiana counties, ecoregions, state parks and nature preserves to assist you in determining what plants are suitable for your area (there’s also a list of invasives to avoid).

Learn what invasive plants to avoid in landscaping and why, and find out how to support indigenous Indiana flora and fauna by using plants that fit into our ecosystem. Presentation by Mary Welz, Regional Specialist, Southern Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management (SICIM), active in her local CISMA* chapter,  MC-IRIS (Monroe County–Reduce Invasive Species). She holds a BS in Biology from Indiana University, Bloomington and studied Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia, Athens.
